Journal Title: Stem Cells Translational Medicine

Volume/Issue: Vol. 8, Issue: 9 (Sept 2019)

Article Title: Convergence of Cell Pharmacology and Drug Delivery

Pages: 874-879

Author: Aijaz, Ayesha; Vaninov, Natalie; Allen, Ashley; Barcia, Rita N; Parekkadan, Biju.

Database: ProQuest Health Research Premium Collection

Abstract: Future innovations focused on improvements in drug delivery using a pharmacokinetics (PK) / pharmacodynamics (PD) perspective can aid in designing a cell therapeutic product to overcome any pharmacological barriers for a given disease application. Herein, we present a perspective on the development of an ex vivo mesenchymal stromal therapeutic using a PK/PD framework and also present examples of general cell engineering techniques that implicitly influence the PK/PD curve by genetically modifying cells to regulate their in vivo duration, biodistribution, and activity.

Article Title: Quantitative Systems Pharmacology: A Regulatory Perspective on Translation

Pages: 336-339

Author: Zineh, Issam

Database: ProQuest Health Research Premium Collection

Abstract: Interest in QSP as an approach to mechanistically inform drug development has exploded in recent years. Additionally, both drug development and regulatory scientists have increasingly expressed interest in the potential for QSP to guide regulatory decisions. The extent to which QSP can routinely do either is an open question, and there have been examples of QSP facilitating key decisions and transitions in drug discovery and development.

Abstract: Although methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) has long been used for opioid addiction, our knowledge on its pharmacokinetics is still limited. We aimed to investigate effects of age, gender, and various co-medications on methadone serum concentration-to-dose ratio (CDR) in a naturalistic setting.
